MIRA tool for Chad was developed for sudden crises. In addition it has the flexibility to be used to perform baseline assessments in regions with a low presence of humanitarian actors, or in the absence of data. This will enable both field teams to become familiar with the tools and to collect basic information whose analysis will facilitate decision-making at the strategic humanitarian forums.

This guidance was produced in 2016, as the result of an interagency collaboration. It sets a common approach on population figures, how to categorize, how to count, and aggregate. As it was not updated since then, it is out of date on some aspects. The “onion model” remains valid.

DEEP is an intelligent web-based platform offering a suite of collaborative tools tailored towards humanitarian crisis responses. It includes common analysis workflows and frameworks for thinking using both structured and unstructured, quantitative and qualitative data. By using a customizable analysis frameworks, users can easily catalog information contained in large amounts of documents and export it to a variety of formats. Supporting this, DEEP has a long term vision of using text analysis techniques in order to streamline the process of sourcing information from online sources and semi-automating document information extraction. Although the platform is meant to be a collaborative space, it is open-source and available to be deployed in private server environments. Data in DEEP is visible only to users granted access to a project space and is stored using modern web technology standards.

This Humanitarian Response Monitoring Guidance is meant for all humanitarian actors involved in the preparation of a humanitarian response plan and its monitoring. It gives a definition for humanitarian response monitoring is and how to carry it out when monitoring a humanitarian response plan (HRP), whether for a sudden or slow onset disaster or complex emergency. It aims to define the standard components, ensure a common understanding of the key concepts and spell out related responsibilities.

This inter-agency agreed set of documents offers a template and explanations for presenting the progress of the HRP response during the year. The publication of a PMR is not mandatory and the template can be adapted in a flexible way.
